Ticked Off

Ok here's my beef: What is up with people who still actually think that it's ok to say "the south should have won?"

Reasons that this fallacy drives me up a tree:
  1. Even if there were bigger issues in the Civil War for example State Rights those issues have long since been forgotten. The only issue that stands out is slavery and maybe one or two other things.
  2. When saying things like "The South should have won" you make yourself sound a) racist b) ignorant and c) likely to get your butt kicked north of the mason Dixon
  3. I honestly don't think that people realize what a loaded, offensive statement the "South should have won" is if they did maybe they would think twice about it.
*Disclaimer*
I believe in Free Speech any one that knows me knows that. I think Voltaire said "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." I agree with him. I just wish that people would think before they talk. Language is to be used wisely.

Illegal Immigrants

Question of the day:

What's so darn bad about Illegal Immigrants?

I don't really know. Reasons why this befuddles me:
1) Our country was founded by not only illegal but jerky immigrants
2) Illegal immigrants keep food on our tables if it weren't for them food would cost a lot more and our economy would plummet
3) They actually want to work, unlike the 80% of people who are on welfare and intend to stay there till they die or the money stops coming these people want to work.
4) All the illegal immigrants I know are nice.
5) Republicans at least the ones mentioned in this article excluding Pres. Bush who is trying to give the Illegal Immigrants something are big jerks who only care about lining their own pockets and should seriously stop picking on the little guy.

While I understand there are legal ways to become Americans and that the Illegal Immigrants should follow the law I also understand that as far as I know America is an ethnocentric country that does little to help the illegal immigrants become legal in a nice way with out deporting them and making them spend all of their hard earned money to become legal.

At the heart of this lies the fact that I can't stand to see hard-working good people be punished on some legalistic technicality. Seriously learning the pledge doesn't make you American and all anyone really wants is their tax money. I have said enough.

Yester day I cooked my very first Thanksgiving dinner. Nearly all by myself with just a few calls home. Everything turned out great. Then we boxed it all up and took it over to Jay and Jessa's and ate with them and Jenn.

It was a good afternoon. Jeremy and I were supposed to go see Rent last night after dinner but whew cooking all that food makes you really tired so i ended up falling asleep so we didnt go to the movie but we went and bought LOTR Return of the King . We started the movie at about 12 and so of course we didn't finish until 2ish by the time we read our bible for the night it was 2:30 early in the night I had swindled Lisa into doing early morning sales with me. So after no real sleep I got up at 4:30 got dressed and headed out. The people at Walmart gave us free doughnuts and I almost had to deck a kid to get the digital camera Lisa wanted. But I got almost all of Jeremy's presents finished. I came home and did almost all of the rest of my Christmas shopping online bless Oldnavy.com with their $5 shipping.

drum roll please. . . .
Now for this afternoon. We get to go get our very first Christmas tree and decorate it YAY. This is the best time of year ever. Woo Woo. and hopefully Rent.

The Friday before Thanksgiving

I must reflect on my boss. Yes, she fills my thoughts, and I cannot escape her presence. Today is Friday the last day of basically anything before Harding University's Thanksgiving break. Now some will work on Monday and Tuesday, but for the most part, people have all but headed out of town.
My office is one that overall services students. There are a few other things that we do here and there but basically we need students to do our job. So now as I sit here at 3:45 on a Friday afternoon and even more importantly a vacation Friday afternoon I wonder to myself why am I here.
What does this have to do with your boss you might ask? Well if she had a humane or logical bone in her body, she would say. . . "Why are you here? Why don't you go home? Leave an hour early." But alas she taps away at her power points lording her power over me as I sit at my Bob Cratchet sized desk that cannot hold my keyboard and a piece of paper at the same time. Ahhh to be free from this perpetual servitude; I am no less than a sharecropper or an indentured servant. There is nothing I can do to make this better but serve my time.

Peace and Love
